Leigh Doughty is a 32 year old referee From Lancashire who began refereeing in 2006.
The Freckleton-based official, arrived in the EFL at the start of the 2019-20 season, following his promotion to the National List of Referees after just one campaign in the National League.
In what was only his second season in the EFL, Doughty was promoted to the Select Group Two group of match officials and was predominantly refereeing at Championship level.
Mr Doughty has only refed one Fulham game and that was in February of this year when we won 1-0 away at Cardiff City . He booked four players two from each team, the Fulham players were Harrison Reed and Aleksandar Mitrovic both for fouls. Aleksandar scored the only goal which was his 34th goal of the season.
He last refed Preston North End, earlier this season in November 2021, when they lost 2-1 at home to Cardiff City. Mr Doughty booked five players, two from Preston North End.
Last season Mr Doughty refed 25 Football League games and dished out 81 yellows and 4 reds, so an average 3.2 yellows per game. This season so far he has refed 29 games dishing out 108 yellows, so an average 3.7 yellows per game, and 4 reds.
Mr Doughty's busiest game in recent times was the Nottm Forest 2-2 draw with Stoke in February 2022 when he dished out three yellows to each team and a red to a Forest player
