Sunderland born Jonathan Moss was a keen footballer and played junior football at academy level, for Sunderland and then for Millwall. He began refereeing while at school and in 1999 he switched from playing football to being a referee in the Northern Counties East League and Northern Premier League, Moss was promoted to the National Group of assistant referees in 2003.

He was then promoted to the National Group of Referees who officiate in the Football League and was then promoted to the list of Select Group Referees, who officiate all Premier League matches at the start of the 2011–12 season.

The last time Ref Moss bossed a Fulham game was back in March 2014 when we were beaten 5-0 by at Etihad Stadium by Man City. Mr Moss booked four players, all from Fulham, gave two penalties and sent off Fulham's Amorebieta in the 53rd minute when the score stood at 1-0.

Mr Moss last refed Man City in the 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the League Cup. City won 4-3 on penalties and Mr Moss yellow carded five players two of them from Man City.

Last season Mr Moss refed 35 games and dished out 125 yellows and 4 reds, so an average 3.6 yellows per game. This season so far he has bossed 34 games and issued 118 yellows, an average 3.5 cards a match, and 7 reds

Mr Moss's busiest game so far this season was Wolves' 2-1 victory over Chelsea in eaarly December when he yellow carded seven players, four from each team. eight
