Sunderland born Jonathan Moss was a keen footballer and played junior football at academy level, for Sunderland and then for Millwall. He began refereeing while at school and in 1999 he switched from playing football to being a referee in the Northern Counties East League and Northern Premier League, Moss was promoted to the National Group of assistant referees in 2003.
He was then promoted to the National Group of Referees who officiate in the Football League and was then promoted to the list of Select Group Referees, who officiate all Premier League matches at the start of the 2011–12 season.
The last time Mr Moss bossed a Fulham game was earlier in this season, in February 2021, when we drew 1-1 away at Burnley. Mr Moss booked one player from each team, Ruben Loftus-Cheek of Fulham for a foul in the sixteenth minute. Fulham's goalscorer was Ola Aina.
Mr Moss also refed Fulham in December 2020, when we lost 2-0 away at Manchester city. Mr Moss had a quiet evening and kept his cards in his pocket.
Earlier in the season, in October 2020, Mr Moss also refed Fulham when we lost 3-0 away to Brentford in the League Cup. He booked three players, two from Fulham, Aboubakar Kamara in the 12th minute for a foul and Stefan Johansen in the 49th minute also for a foul
Ref Moss also bossed Fulham back in the 2018/2019 season in May 2019 when we lost 1-0 away at Wolves. He booked four players three of them Fulham players, Calum Chambers, Maxime Le Marchand and Cyrus Christie all for fouls.
Prior to the Wolves game Mr Moss last met up with Fulham in March 2014 when we were
beaten 5-0 by at Etihad Stadium by Man City. Mr Moss booked four players, all from Fulham, gave two penalties and sent off Fulham's Fernando Amorebieta in the 53rd minute, for a foul in the area, when the score stood at 1-0.
Over the years Mr Moss has refed eight or more games involving Fulham, three of them against Manchester City. Fulham have lost all of the games.
Mr Moss last refed Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in this season in February 2021 when they lost 2-0 at home to Southampton in the FA Cup. Two Wolves players and two Southampton players were yellow carded.
Last season Mr Moss refed 32 games and dished out 102 yellows and 3 reds, so an average 3.2 yellows per game.
Mr Moss's busiest game recently was the Leicester 0-1 home defeat by Aston Villa in October 2020 when he yellow carded seven players, four from Leicester.
