Fulham Coach Slavisa Jokanovic was left with a sense of deja vu after Fulham let a lead slip in the closing stages.
Ryan Sessegnon had fired his side in front with just quarter of an hour remaining, but Cardiff City earned a 1-1 draw when substitute Danny Ward found space to nod home.
“It’s similar to the Norwich game,” Jokanovicstated. “We arrived in the last 10 minutes with an advantage, we didn’t score the second goal, we didn’t manage the situation well enough, and we paid an expensive price.
“We showed some good spirit, fighting spirit, we fought hard. In the first 45 minutes we had possession of the ball but didn’t create so many chances.
“In the second half we moved the ball too and found the way to create the chances, but we weren’t clinical enough. We scored the goal but in the last minutes we didn’t manage the situation well enough, we made a few mistakes before they scored their goal.
“We showed some improvements, [but] it’s not enough. The road in front of us is long, and we can work to try and improve ourselves.
“We cannot be satisfied and we are disappointed, but immediately in front of us we are going to have another chance to win at home. I hope we are going to do it against Hull.
“40 games are left in front of all the Championship teams. [Cardiff] started very well, they’re a physically very strong team. Defensively we made a mistake for which we paid a very expensive price, but our defensive level was acceptably good.”
Floyd Ayité was back in the Fulham team for the first time in a month, and the attacker caused the league leaders plenty of problems operating in a false nine role.
“It’s good to have him back in the team after he was injured,” his Head Coach said. “He played a good football game. I used him in two positions during the game.
“He is going to be a little bit more confident in his natural position, but he put in an acceptably good performance.”
