Fulham striker Andy Johnson has vowed to provide goals in Bobby Zamora's absence as Roy Hodgson assesses his attacking options and considers a loan for move for Roma's Stefano Okaka.
Zamora, who has scored 11 times this season, suffered a broken collarbone in the Barclays Premier League defeat at Stoke earlier in the week, leaving boss Hodgson with Johnson, Erik Nevland and Diomansy Kamara as his available forwards.
"That was a massive blow for the team," said Johnson. "He's been fantastic and in the form of his life. His confidence was flying so it's up to me, Erik and Diomansy Kamara to carry on what Bobby's been doing.
"He's been fantastic and he's going to be missed. The boys have got to step in now."
"On Saturday we need to bounce back from recent defeats. We've got character and I don't think there have been many occasions over the period I've been at the Club that we've lost two on the bounce and we're at home in front of our supporters. We need to give a big performance and there can be no excuses. We can't use injury problems as an excuse. We need to go out and get three points."
In relation to his own injuries Johnson said "It's been hard, I've not been out for three months since I was 18 years old so I've found it difficult. What I need now is games - I need another two or three under my belt before I hit my top form. It's quite frustrating at the moment because when you come back in you want to be as sharp as you were before the injury but you've got to be patient.
"I hope the fans can be patient as well and understand it's been a difficult time. What I need to do now is get fully fit and the only way I can do that is through games and training."
