John Collins to stay

Fulham's out-of-favour midfielder John Collins might stay with the London side after no other clubs have expressed an interest.

Manager Jean Tigana told the 34-year-old former Scotland international, who will be out of contract in the summer, that he could leave during this month's transfer window if the club gets a good offer.

Nottingham Forest manager Paul Hart held talks with Collins' agent Raymond Sparkes last month.

But Collins turned down a move to the City Ground and Sparkes admitted on Monday that there had been no developments since.

Collins came on as substitute for the final 15 minutes in Fulham's FA Cup win over Birmingham on Sunday.

But that was his first league appearance for four months and the former Celtic, Monaco and Everton player wants more regular first team football.

"John felt the move wasn't right for him," Sparkes said of the aborted Forest deal.

"There have been no other proposals since then, but the opportunity exists until the end of January.

"The opportunity always exists for the right move.

"And if someone comes in tomorrow and it's right for John and the club, it could happen."

Sparkes hopes Collins' fleeting appearance means the player may once again feature in Tigana's plans.

"The fact John got on the pitch may signify that Jean Tigana has finally adopted a different view of John's value in the playing sense," said Sparkes.

Fulham's assistant manager Christian Damiano reiterated that the club were ready to listen to offers for Collins.

"We need to wait and see what happens with a transfer in case he gets a great offer," he said.

"John has had fewer possibilities to play this season but has a great spirit around the team and has done very well for us."
