Fulham are aiming to bring £750,000-rated Middlesbrough striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink back to London to replace Andy Cole according to today's Daily Express.
With seven other strikers on the books at The Riverside, Steve McClaren will find it difficult to justify rejecting an offer for the 33-year-old.
The news would come as a major surprise to Boro fans who expected to see Mark Viduka sold off following the £7.5million arrival of Yakubu.
But with no takers for the portly Aussie, Hasselbaink may be sacrificed to help fund McClaren’s plans to strengthen his midfield.
With Middlesbrough hoping to upset Newcastle fans by beating their north-east rivals to the signing of Fulham's Luis Boa Morte.
Boro are believed to have tabled a £5m for the player.
