Fulham are ready to offer an extended contract to experienced winger Willian, sources have told Football Insider.

The 34-year-old has been rejuvenated under Marco Silva this season, and the Portuguese manager is very keen to keep him at the club.

Willian’s contract is currently set to expire at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

Sources with knowledge of the former Arsenal star’s situation have revealed that an extension of 12 months is the most likely outcome.

It is believed that the winger feels very positive about his return to the Premier League with Fulham.

Willian currently earns a reported wage of £40,000-a-week at Craven Cottage.

The former Brazil international has made 19 appearances as a regular starter this term, registering three goals and three assists.

Willian’s revitalisation this season has come as a surprise after the wingers’ miserable spell at Arsenal – where he managed just one goal in 37 appearances in the 2020-21 campaign.

His time at the Emirates Stadium came after a trophy-laden spell at Chelsea – where he scored 63 goals in 339 appearances.

The winger helped the Stamford Bridge club to two Premier League titles, as well as Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup triumphs.

As well as Willian, Fulham stars Neeskens Kebano, Layvin Kurzawa and Shane Duffy are out of contract in June.

The Cottagers sit sixth in the Premier League – just six points adrift of a Champions League place. Silva’s side face Leeds in the FA Cup on Tuesday (28 February) before travelling to rivals Brentford in the Premier League next Monday (6 March).
