Liverpool are in line for a delayed £12million payout from Fulham this summer for the transfer of Harry Wilson, Football Insider understands.
The Wales international, 24, joined the London club last July for £12m after failing to break into the first team at Anfield.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that the club structured a deal with Fulham in which the transfer fee was waived for 12 months.
The agreement helped the Londoners comply with financial fair play rules following their Premier League relegation and as they reshaped their squad for their Championship campaign.
It also helped improve relations between the two clubs following the antagonistic transfer of Harvey Elliott to Anfield in 2019.
Wilson completed the move to Fulham after failing to convince Jurgen Klopp he could compete with the galaxy of international stars pushing for first-team spots.
The wide attacker had made a big impact during various loan spells – mainly in the Championship – as well as for Liverpool Under-23s.
At Fulham, he has been a key player this season in their bid for instant promotion.
The left footer has started 24 of the club’s 28 Championship matches, scoring eight goals and supplying 11 assists.
Liverpool’s deal with Fulham came before negotiations in the recent window of the transfer of Fabio Carvalho.
The Merseysiders bid £8m in a buy-to-loan deal and the 19-year-old even underwent a medical on Monday before the deal failed to be registered before the deadline.
