West Ham United are interested in pursuing a mid-season move for Fulham winger Adama Traore, reports suggest.

The former Barcelona winger has played under new Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo previously at Wolves and is only regarded as a bit-part player for Marco Silva currently. With West Ham in need of added firepower to avoid the drop this season, Sky Sports say that they are looking at a deal for the 29-year-old.

Traore's contract expires next summer and he has fallen down the pecking order at Craven Cottage with Alex Iwobi, Harry Wilson, and new signing Kevin all playing more regularly. Traore is yet to score or assist this season but has amassed over 250 Premier League appearances in his career to date.

It was Nuno who got Traore from Barcelona in 2018 initially and 131 matches later, the pair could be reunited in January once more. Rob Dorsett, a reporter for Sky Sports, writes that they have a close relationship and a deal could happen.

Nuno is also described with having tried to poach Traore during his time at Nottingham Forest.

As well as playing more games under Nuno than any other manager - he has featured almost twice as many times for the former Tottenham boss than the next most, Silva - Traore has scored more goals (10) and assisted more (18) for him as well.

Traore remains inconsistent in the final third despite his great speed, only managing to find the net twice from 36 appearances in the league last season. He did assist seven times, starting 18 matches and coming from the bench in 18 more, only going unused once.

The Spaniard is a trusted member of Silva's Fulham group but is being used less frequently compared to when he arrived. Traore is yet to start a league game that Fulham have won this season as their slide down the table continues.

He would be swapping one underperforming London club for another as Nuno attempts to stabalise West Ham. The 51-year-old has overseen consecutive wins after a tough start to life back in the capital.

West Ham are currently in the bottom three but are only goal difference behind Burnley in 17th. Fulham are one point ahead on 11 and have lost five of their last six matches.

Traore will be able to negotiate a pre-contract free transfer with clubs outside of England in January. West Ham could get him for cheap if Fulham were to try and cash in before his deals ends on June 30.
