  • The Mereysiders will be keen to get their act back on track after a "weekus horribilis" which saw them knocked off the top by defeat at Middlesbrough, knocked out of the Champions League with only a draw in Basle, and failure to return to the Premiership summit when held by lowly Sunderland. Indeed last Sunday's goalless draw with the Wearsiders was the first time in 11 months the Reds had failed to score in the League at Anfield.
  • Despite defeat at the Riverside in their last Premiership game on the road, Liverpool still lead the top division "Away" table.
  • Gerard Houllier's men have suffered fewer defeats (just one) and conceded fewer goals (10) than any other clubs in the Premiership. They have recorded the longest winning sequence (7), unbeaten run (12) and kept more clean sheets than anyone else (8).
  • Having said all that, Liverpool still had collected 32 points by this stage corresponding last season. That's compared to the 31 they currently have.
  • Should Liverpool win, it would be their 199th victory in the Premier League and take their all-time Premiership points tally over the 700 mark. They have 698 at present.
  • If the Reds should finish level at Loftus Road, it would be the 50th time in competitive matches they had drawn since Houllier took sole charge. If the lose, it will be their 50th defeat in recognised competitive games since Houllier took the managerial reins in a solo capacity in November 1998.
    Lost fewest Premiership matches (1).

  • Leads the Premiership's "away" table with 13 points from a possible 18, Chelsea have 12 from seven starts and Everton 12 from eight matches.

  • Recorded the longest unbeaten sequence in away Premier League games (5).
  • Scored more goals in the last five minutes of Premiership matches than any other club (6).
  • One of two clubs to have scored first in more Premiership matches than any other clubs (11). The other is Arsenal.
  • Conceded the first goal in fewer Premiership matches than any other club (2).
  • One of four clubs whose players have not picked up a red card while in Premiership action. The others are Chelsea, Sunderland and Tottenham.
  • Fired 119 shots on target in Premiership matches this season - that's more than any other club.
  • Committed 122 fouls in Premiership matches this season. That's fewer than any other club.
  • Players been shown 13 yellow cards in Premiership matches this season. No other clubs' players have been shown that few.
  • Used 18 players in Premiership matches this season. Only West Ham have used that few.
Best Scenario at the end of day - Up 1 to TOP
  • If Liverpool win, while Arsenal away to Southampton do no better than draw.

Worst Scenario at the end of day - N0 Change
  • If Liverpool lose, but can slip to within two points of third place if lose while Chelsea away to Bolton win.

  • Last Premiership win was 1-0, home to Charlton on 6 October, 2002.
  • Suffering the longest losing sequence in the top flight (4).
  • Bottom of the Premiership's "Last Six Current Form Table" with 2 points from the possible 18. That's one point less than West Brom, and three fewer than Leeds and Bolton.
  • One of two clubs whose players have been shown three red cards in Premiership matches. The other is Southampton. No other clubs' players have been shown more in top division games.
  • Conceded four penalties in Premiership matches this season. Only Bolton and Everton have also conceded that many.
  • Fulham continue to face a dichotomy in form between League and Cup competitions. While only able to pick up one point from a last possible 15, the Cottagers have enjoyed home and away Uefa Cup victories over Dynamo Zagreb and made little of disposing of Third Division Bury from the Worthington Cup.
  • The point came, from last Saturday's goalless draw at Birmingham but at a some cost. Rufus Brevett and Steve Marlet were both sent off.
  • With one win from nine Premiership outings, and five defeats from the last eight, Jean Tigana's side have slipped from fifth on 6 October to 13th, and could find themselves in the bottom six if they record another blank here.

Head to Head

  • Fulham, currently bottom of the Premiership's Last Six Current Form table, welcome a Liverpool side to Loftus Road, who are eager for the victory that could take them back to the top of the League.
  • Liverpool won this corresponding fixture 0-2 last season on their first Premiership visit to Craven Cottage and first League trip to the Thamesside club in 34 years. Nicolas Anelka took advantage when Fulham failed to clear their lines for the first and sub Jari Litmanen nipped in for the second at the death when Cottagers keeper Edwin Van der Sar was out of his goal.
  • That was Liverpool's first win in the top flight at Fulham since their very first League visit on 29 October, 1949 when they won 0-1 in the old League - Division One.
  • Liverpool's last League maximum at the Cottage was 44 years ago. They won 0-1 in the old League - Division Two on 18 October, 1958.
  • Fulham drew the visit to Anfield 0-0 last December, so they are still seeking a first Premiership win over the Reds.
  • Fulham's biggest win in this corresponding fixture was 3-1 on 7 April, 1956 in the old League - Division Two. Liverpool's biggest win in a League game at Fulham was last season's Premiership match.
  • No player has ever been sent off in this corresponding fixture.
  • The last player to bag a hat trick in League fixtures between these clubs was Billy Liddell. He scored three of Liverpool's goals in the 4-1 win at Anfield in the old Second Division on 18 September, 1954.

Matchday Referee: Graham Poll, Tring

Graham Poll was a mere whipper-snapper when he joined the Premier League list, back in 1993, and even now, at 39, the vastly experienced Poll isn't one of the League's oldest officials.

The self-employed sales consultant began refereeing in 1980, joining the football league list in 1991 and gaining FIFA approval in 1996. His career highlights include the 1998 Charity Shield and 2000/01's FA Cup final.

Having been made an official FIFA referee, Poll was also in charge of a handful of Euro 2000 matches and officiated between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the Champions League final of the same year.

Poll was the most used official in the 2001/02 Premiership season with 24 games, but only brandished an average of 2.7 yellow cards. He did, however, brandish 5 reds.

(Ed. In his 9 games so far this season Mr. Poll has issued 25 yellows 56% to the home side rising to 66% in his last 6 games. His last Fulham game was the F.A. Cup Semi against Chelsea when he was not too helpful. He also took the home league games against Leeds, overlooking some serious bad play by the Northerners and booking Leggy, and the home draw with Chelsea, when he booked Sean Davis.

The bad Reds are Hamann 4 yels, Murphy 4 yels and Diouf 4 yels).
