Fulham keeper Maik Taylor claimed that his team-mates were unhappy not to have secured their 23rd win of the season.
"At the start of the season we probably would have taken a point here, but the way we have been playing, we want to win every game, so we are a bit disappointed," he said.
"Results have gone for us today and we hope to bounce back with a win.
Taylor paid tribute to his opposite number Kevin Miller, who had an outstanding game between the posts for the home side.
"He did really well and probably won the point for them today," he said.
Barnsley boss Nigel Spackman was delighted with a point against runaway leaders Fulham.
"If we continue the hard work and continue the same team spirit that they have today, then we will stay in this division," he said.
"I think if we were offered a point before the game, we would have taken it.
"We obviously tried to nullify them and I think we did that very successfully. Overall we are very pleased.
