Fulham will listen to offers for keeper Edwin van der Sar in another cost-cutting move.
The Dutch international, 32, was signed for £7million from Juventus two years ago.
He is one of the club's top earners on £30,000 a week and has two years left on his contract. But chairman Mohamed Fayed has demanded cuts and the board want Van der Sar off the wage bill.
New boss Chris Coleman said: "Maik Taylor was our No1 at the end of last season simply because of his performances. Whoever is on top of their game will be in the team."
One issue may be that before the big Dutchman signed at Fulham, worried about them not playing European football, he said: "I talked twice in these past weeks with our coach Louis van Gaal, and he said to me: 'The Premier League is one of the biggest and best competitions in the world and if you can play 38 games in England and international games then it is no problem". Being in and out of the Fulham squad could be a problem
