The Premier League are reportedly considering rescheduling Tottenham's postponed clash with Fulham this Wednesday, with Spurs' game with Aston Villa now in doubt due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the Midlands club.

Jose Mourinho's side are due to travel to Villa Park on Wednesday but are yet to receive any confirmation that the game won't be going ahead.

Villa were forced to shut down their training ground at Bodymoor Heath last week as the virus spread through their first team.

Up to 14 members of their squad and staff tested positive, forcing the rest of the team into a period of isolation.

Yet the club were forced to field a youth team in the FA Cup against Liverpool on Friday as the Reds ran out 4-1 winners despite a spirited effort from the youngsters.

That's unlikely to happen again this week for the game against Tottenham with first-team training cancelled until further notice.

According to The Athletic, talks are underway to reschedule Spurs' home clash with Fulham for this Wednesday despite the short period of notice.

The game, which was cancelled on the day (December 30) just hours before kick-off, was a major talking point and saw the Premier League criticised for their lack of organisation by Spurs boss Mourinho.

Fulham's trip to Burnley was also later cancelled following further positive tests in Scott Parker's camp.

Now the Cottagers are reportedly fuming that they're being lined up for a game against Tottenham at such short notice.

After Tottenham's 5-0 win in the FA Cup at Non-League minnows Marine, Mourinho explained that he would prepare to face Aston Villa as normal, until told otherwise.

He said: "Nobody told me that I'm not going to play so [on Monday morning] we start to prepare for that game, and the same Tuesday unless somebody tells us different."

The Portuguese recently raised concerns as to how his side will complete all of their fixtures, with Tottenham still fighting for silverware on four different fronts.

Mourinho said: “I believe it is an impossible situation for a club to have three matches postponed, especially if that club plays in Europe.

“For a Europa League team to have three matches postponed is completely impossible, that is the only thing I can say.

“It is for the Premier League to make decisions, if we don’t play against Aston Villa we will have three matches postponed and that is impossible because it would need the Euros to get moved and that is not going to happen.”
