Fulham have again watched Racing Club defender Martin Vitali as they continue to look for possible Steve Finnan replacements.

Finnan's departure from West London looks increasingly likely, no matter who Jean Tigana's successor should be in the summer.

A move to Liverpool is reportedly being lined up for the Irishman and his departure will leave a massive void for Fulham to fill.

They are now covering their options and have posted their scouts to check on the progress of some of their targets - one of which is Vitali.

It was reported last month that Fulham, along with Manchester City, had been watching the Argentine and now they have been back to check on him again.

They saw him feature in Racing's 1-0 home defeat to Boca Juniors and sources suggest that they will watch him against San Lorenzo next week.

Argentine agent Carlos Aloisio, who owns part of the player, admits there is British interest.

"There is an interest from Fulham, they seem keen on getting him in the team, and that is why they have come to watch him," Aloisio admitted.

"They may stay until next week to watch him again in the derby against San Lorenzo.

"Anyway there has not been any negotiations, so I can say that, until June, Vitali will be playing in Racing."

When asked about Fulham's interest, Vitali said: "My agent told me that there were some scouts watching me.

"But I am very calm, because I am comfortable in Racing and I must concentrate on my team.

"You cannot play well if you are thinking about a transfer to another.

"When the right moment arrives I will then think about a move."
