Fulham striker Jari Litmanen has suffered from what was discribed as "palpitations" during a training session.

The Finland international joined Fulham during the January transfer window and had been working hard to regain full match fitness.

The Cottagers boss, Roy Hodgson, had been hoping to use the former Ajax and Liverpool star in the club's relegation battle but the Finn's debut has been put back at least a week.

Fulham FC statement
During a training session last week, Jari Litmanen complained of minor palpitations which the Club Doctor decided needed to be checked by a cardiologist as a precautionary measure.

He was subsequently advised to rest by the cardiologist, again as a precaution, and he returned to Finland to do so, as his family remain there. Jari will return to London, and to training, at the beginning of next week.
