Fulham striker Bryan Ruiz headed home to Costa Rica to catch up with family and friends and enjoy some well earned rest following the conclusion of the 2011/12 campaign, .

Ruiz missed the final weeks of the season after suffering a fracture in the 5th metatarsal against Bolton Wanderers on April 7th and the attacking midfielder will continue his rehabilitation on home soil this summer.

"I really love to play football and I enjoy it so much but it's nice to have some time to relax and recharge the batteries," Ruizsaid. "Costa Rica is sunshine everyday and I'm looking forward to spending some time with my family.

"The doctor tells me everything is coming along nicely with the injury and everything is going well - I'm feeling really good. I have a special programme to follow in Costa Rica which I'll follow with the national team and they'll help me take care of it. Fulham will be aware of everything and someone will come over to check on my progress."

Ruiz is clearly enjoying life in SW6 and with a first campaign at the Cottage under his belt, the Costa Rican international is confident that he will be finding the net on a regular basis next season.

"My first season at Fulham went so fast and I really enjoyed it," said Ruiz. "I'm really enjoying living in London and playing for Fulham and also experiencing a different country and culture.

"I had to get used to the changes from Holland - a new competition, new players and staff. So far it's been great and I think the first season has prepared me really well for next season. The Team did really well last season and to finish the season in ninth place was fantastic.

"I'm sure next season I'll score a lot more goals and I'll be working really hard in pre-season. I know the Club, players and League really well now so I'm sure there will be more goals from me next season."
