Fulham forward Andrew Johnson is hoping to make a return to competitive football in the next four weeks, following an injury blighted campaign last time out.

The former Everton striker made only 13 appearances for the Cottagers last term as knee, shoulder and groin injuries kept him out for the best part of the campaign.

Now the 29-year-old hopes to make a return in about a month's time, insisting that he has been working on his fitness to be as good as new when he returns to playing competitive football.

"I've done everything I can to make sure I haven't lost any speed," Johnson told the Daily Mirror.

"I've worked on my glutes, my hamstrings and my core strength - everything that gives me pace. Of course, we'll see when I get out there, but I'm confident I can be as fast as I've ever been.

"If it's the end of September, October, or whenever, that's when it is, but I can see the light now."

Johnson is expected to return in four weeks' time, and will be a big boost for the club as they have already lost Bobby Zamora to injury.
