Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a 90th-minute winner as Serbia stunned Portugal to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
The hosts needed just a point in Lisbon to seal their position as winners of Group A, and looked well on course to do so when Renato Sanchez put them in front inside two minutes.
But Dusan Tadic equalised in the first-half, before
Mitrovic beat home goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a downward header at the far post to spark wild celebrations on Serbia's bench and leave Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates devastated.
Just over a year ago, Mitrovic was the villain for his country as he was the only player to fail to score in a penalty shootout against Scotland that saw Serbia miss out on Euro 2020.
The result means Serbia win Group A and guarantee their spot at the 2022 World Cup, while Portugal must go into the play-offs - though they will be one of six seeded teams.
