Fulham have signed goalkeeper David Button from west London rivals Brentford for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the option of a further year’s stay at Craven Cottage.
He will compete with Marcus Bettinelli for the No 1 jersey at the Cottage.
Button, who began his career at Tottenham Hotspur, has been at Griffin Park for three years after signing from Charlton Athletic.
His debut season saw the club finish in the League One automatic promotion places to propel the Bees into the Championship.
Button continued to flourish in the second tier and helped Mark Waburton’s boys come within touching distance of the Premier League.
Dean Smith, Brentford head coach, said: “I would personally like to wish David well and thank him for his contribution in both performances and attitude since myself and Richard joined the club.
“His save in our win at Preston in January, as well as many others, will live long in the memory, but as the way in football, things move on and David has chosen to further his career elsewhere.”
Brentford have already signed Button’s replacement following their acquisition of Southend’s Dan Bentley and have Jack Bonham in reserve.
Smith added: “I have nothing but respect for the way he acquits himself to his profession and his departure will leave big gloves to fill.
