Fulham midfielder Jean-Michael Seri made history as he won the Premier League goal of the month competition with his first ever shot on target in the Premier League.

The Ivorian ace, 27, claimed the award for his incredible long-range strike against Burnley on August 26.

Seri broke the deadlock after four minutes at Craven Cottage to give his side hope after two consecutive defeats.

Slavisa Jokanovic's side had lost to Crystal Palace and Tottenham before the 4-2 win over the Clarets.

The 27-year-old's powerful strike from outside of the area flew past the hands of Joe Hart and into the back of the net.

It was his second shot since joining Fulham, but his first flew wide of the target.

It is clear to see why Seri was chased by some of Europe's biggest clubs this summer, including Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But Fulham fans were overjoyed that he picked to join them in a £17.7m deal from Nice.

After his goal, one supporter tweeted: "Seri's goal, to open the scoring against Burnley, and what a goal it was. That's why they paid the big bucks for. Stunning stuff."

Another added: "Seri's goal was brilliant. Plenty of top teams will regret not getting him."
