Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira is finally set to become a Palmeiras player, with only the final paperwork standing in the way of the transfer being confirmed.
According to Globo Esporte, the São Paulo club have agreed a €10m (£8.4m) deal with Fulham, payable in installments over three years.
The 29-year-old has also accepted a long-term contract, and although reports have varied on the length – journalist Danilo Lavieri says three and a half years until December 2028, while Globo Esporte report four years – the agreement is in place and now down to contract clauses.
Palmeiras, who are celebrating their 111th anniversary this Tuesday, are hopeful of announcing Andreas as a “birthday present” for their supporters.
Globo Esporte added that a digital signature could even take place the same day, before the player travels to Brazil later this week for medicals and an official presentation.
After Sunday’s 3-0 win over Sport, coach Abel Ferreira avoided direct comment on the negotiations, but optimism within the club is high. Sources in Brazil say the deal is already “practically done”, with timing rather than substance now the only question.
The Brazilian transfer window remains open until 2 September, giving Palmeiras margin to complete the formalities, but with all parties aligned, Andreas Pereira’s return from Fulham to Brazil now appears imminent.
