Fulham manager Roy Hodgson admits he is concerned after his side lost their fifth consecutive league game.
The Cottagers boss watched on as Fulham went down 2-0 at home to Aston Villa thanks to a brace from Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Villa dominated for the most part and were good value for the victory, and Fulham remain in the bottom half of the Premier League table after the defeat.
Asked if he was concerned about losing five in a row, Hodgson told Sky Sports: "Yes, it's four away games and this was our first home game in the five.
"You can't be anything other than concerned when you've lost five consecutive games.
"There's only one answer to the question and that is yes we're concerned, but I've still got great faith and belief in the team and it's a bad period that we're going through which coincides with our worse ever spate of injuries and loss of many senior and important players to us.
"So I'm not particularly concerned for the long term future but it would be nice to get some players back and get a result, even if it is a fortunate result, which would break this sequence.
"I think losing six or seven players might be a part of the reason."
Although the experienced boss had no complaints about the result, he thought his team were slightly hard done by.
"There's no point complaining about results," he added
"I think that we were, unlucky is not the right word, but I think that we were hard done by to some extent in a fairly even first half where we didn't look like conceding two goals.
"We suddenly concede the two goals in a very short space of time.
"Well punished by the Villa team as you would expect for a team of their quality.
"So at half time, 2-0, it didn't really seem that we deserved that and I was concerned in the second half we would lose our shape or we would play worse.
"You can face a catastrophe in those situations but I thought the players did extremely well.
"In the second half we definitely dominated and took the game to Aston Villa but we ran up against a solid and experienced defence and apart from the goal, which was disallowed for offside, we weren't able to create enough chances to score goals."
Hodgson also revealed that he hopes to add new players to his squad by the time the January transfer window closes on Monday.
"We are pursuing transfer targets but we are dependent of course on the clubs with whom the players are contracted being willing to let them go," he remarked.
"So I won't really know until Monday whether we are successful in that but certainly we've been working very hard for a period of time now to pursue the targets we want.
"But we are still having to wait right until the very end to find out whether they're going to be allowed to come."
