Fulham coach Marco Silva puts Saturday’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur as potentially our best result of the season.

After being the first side to stop Spurs from scoring in 2023/24, Silva was asked if the 3-0 win was the highlight of the campaign so far.

“Yes, I have to say that it’s there at the top,” he replied. “If not the best, it’s one of the best.

“First half clearly was our best half this season. I think the players did it brilliantly. It was almost a complete performance in the first half.

“Of course it was crucial, the moment that we scored the goal, but first 20-25 minutes we created so many dangerous moments around their box, some inside the six yard box as well, some very good moments for us to score.

“We were really solid as a team, we defended really well, some moments we pressed them a little bit more high, and other moments we had to be solid in our block.

“The trigger for the pressure worked really well, we clearly blocked them inside, and the moments that Timothy and Robinson jumped out wide to press them worked really well.

“We know that we’re a really dangerous side as well, to punish the opposition side. It was really important the way we scored two quick goals second half to almost kill the game.

“And, after, we managed the game throughout the minutes during the second half. A little bit more fatigue last 10 minutes, but as a whole it was a great performance for us, really at the top.

“The collective performance was really, really good. It’s difficult to mention just one or two players because some players – wow, what a performance from some of them.”

Spurs look set to secure Champions League football, aided by a comprehensive win at fellow challengers Aston Villa last week, but were second best throughout at the Cottage.

“The three points are clearly well deserved, against a very good side,” Silva said. “The way they won last week, and what they have been doing so far this season, shows that.

“The way they won 4-0 away from home against Villa was like a statement for them in their fight for the Champions League.

“We knew that we were going to face a really brave team, but tonight we knew as well that we have to be, if not braver than them, at least at the same level. And we did it – the players executed really well the plan.

“And I have to mention the fans because the noise was really good at Craven Cottage tonight.”
