Fulham keeper Bernd Leno has been named Man of the Match from our lively 3-2 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.
The Fulham number one had already saved well from Yoane Wissa before he became the first goalkeeper to save a Bryan Mbeumo penalty.
Before stepping up, Mbeumo had netted all nine of his Premier League spot-kicks, with only Yaya Toure (11) and Raúl Jiménez (10) boasting better 100% records in the competition, but Leno made a terrific stop down to his right to deny the Cameroonian.
Equally as important was his denial of Christian Norgaard towards the end of the game, maintaining our lead with a wonderful reflex stop from the Bees captain’s powerful downwards header.
It was a tight vote but Leno’s consistency throughout the game saw him take the accolade, with 33.4% of fans giving him the nod, placing the goalkeeper marginally ahead of Tom Cairney who took 30.3%.
Brentford nemesis Harry Wilson took third spot with 14.9%.
