Fulham Head Coach Scott Parker was delighted by the reaction shown by his Fulham side after a sluggish first 45 minutes away at Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

A late winner from Ivan Cavaleiro was enough to see the Whites return South with a precious three points away from home after being pegged back by a stubborn Huddersfield outfit.

With the match appearing to be heading for a stalemate Parker was pleased by the moment of brilliance produced by the Portuguese winger.

“It was a good goal to be fair,” he stated. “But I think what pleased me most was Cav’s second half performance.

“In the first half he couldn’t really get into the game. He was very down at half-time. What pleases me is his second half performance. It was chalk and cheese.

“From that second half performance he earns the right to score a great goal which is worthy of winning a football match.”

Following a tough season in the Premier League last year for both sides, Parker is thrilled by the reaction that he has seen following the opening day loss away at Oakwell.

“When you come down from the Premier League you lose confidence,” Parker reflected. “It becomes a habit losing football matches. You aren’t winning and you don’t win football matches.

“Your morale is down and it’s difficult. You have to get to grips with life in the Championship and understand what a tough league this is.

“It is relentless at times and you have to adapt to that. Our eyes opened wide after the first game of the season against Barnsley.

“It gave us the wake-up call that we all needed. To a man we have been superb since then. We know what this is all about and the last two results have been fantastic.

“Friday night. Away at Huddersfield. They have been struggling. We knew it would be hard but in the first half we were rushing things a little bit.

“We were forcing things forward when we didn’t need to. At half-time we spoke about it. We wanted to build a platform to build our attacks and work our moments and we did that.

“In the second half we looked every bit like what I want us to look like.”
