Fulham goalkeeping coach Jose Sambade Carreira has left the club just two games into their Premier League return.

Sportsmail understands the club's first-team keepers were informed about Carreira's departure on Wednesday, though the decision was made earlier. The coach did not take training on Thursday.

There was no confirmation from the club about Carreira's shock decision to leave Craven Cottage or the circumstances behind it.

But sources claim Carreira, who arrived at Fulham at the start of last season, has found it hard to settle in England.

His family had moved to London but have since returned to Spain. Carreira intends to rejoin his family.

The timing of Carreira's departure will come as a shock given the club have just signed two Spanish goalkeepers, while it will raise questions over why the coach didn't leave before the start of the season to avoid upheaval to the coaching set-up.

Indeed, Sportsmail can reveal the introduction of Fabri and Sergio Rico into Slavisa Jokanovic's plans have hit a degree of teething problems due, in part, to the pair's difficulty with the English language.

Rico, signed on loan from Sevilla, arrived with a big reputation but is yet to start a game for the club.

On the training field, it is understood, Rico has found difficulty in communicating with his team-mates due to his lack of English.

Calum Chambers, Joe Bryan, Cyrus Christie and Dutchman Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who have all started in the back four so far this season, communicate in English.

Fabri, who has started both games, speaks marginally better English than Rico.

But Craven Cottage sources claim members of the coaching staff are not fully convinced that Fabri, who was signed from Besiktas, can be the club's long-term No 1. Carreira knows Fabri well having worked with him at Besiktas.

Fulham's third-choice keeper is Marcus Bettinelli, who played a vital role in the club's promotion into the top-flight via the play offs last season.

But the former England Under-21 keeper has been pushed down the pecking order since the arrival of Rico and Fabri.
