Fulham's clash at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship has been moved back to September 29 due to safety concerns.

The sides were due to face off at Craven Cottage on September 16, but UEFA's decision to schedule Chelsea's home match with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League on the same date has forced the fixture to be moved.

Fellow West London side Queens Park Rangers are also in action at home that night when they host Blackburn Rovers.

"The Metropolitan Police and the local Safety Advisory Group both raised major concerns about Chelsea, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers playing home matches in West London on the same evening due to extensive operational issues and the significant demands placed on emergency services," read a Football League statement.

"It ultimately came down to a view that the games at Fulham and Chelsea could not proceed on the same night and, unfortunately, it is the League game that has had to be rescheduled, despite every effort from both clubs to retain the fixture on the 16th.

"The Football League, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers are disappointed at this outcome and ask supporters for their understanding on this matter which is beyond the control of all three parties. Every effort has been made to retain the original date but this has proven impossible to achieve."

Fulham currently sit in 14th place in the Championship table, while Wolves occupy 12th position.
