Fulham have confirmed the arrival of Spanish goalkeeper Fabri on a three-year deal from Besiktas.

The 30-year-old shot-stopper has joined the Cottagers for an undisclosed fee.

And he arrives as a replacement for David Button, who moved to Premier League rivals Brighton earlier this month.

Fabri is an experienced goalie, having played for the likes of Deportivo La Coruna, Real Valladolid and Real Betis.

But his greatest success came in Turkey as he lifted the Super Lig title with Besiktas in 2017.

He conceded just 30 goals in 34 games last season, and was voted the league’s best goalkeeper over the past two terms.

Fulham FC statement
The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Fabricio Agosto Ramirez from Besiktas for an undisclosed fee.

30-year-old goalkeeper Fabri, as he is better known, has penned a three-year deal, with the Whites holding an option to extend by a further 12 months.

He is well known to Fulham’s Goalkeeping Coach Jose Sambade Carreira, who he worked closely with at Deportivo de la Coruna.

Born in Las Palmas, Fabri came through the ranks at local side UD Vecindario before being snapped up by Deportivo in 2005.

His La Liga debut came in the 2007/08 season and he went on to make a handful of appearances in Spain’s top flight with Deportivo, subsequent to his permanent move to Real Valladolid.

Fabri’s first consistent run of games came while on loan at Recreativo Huelva in 2010/11, who he helped to a mid-table finish in the Segunda Division, keeping 15 clean sheets throughout the campaign.

His form earned him a switch to top flight outfit Real Betis, who had just won promotion as Segunda Liga champions in 2011.

Fabri battled with Castro for the number one jersey at Betis, displacing his compatriot in goal midway through the 2011/12 campaign and going on to play 15 times in the league before the end of the season.

He rejoined Deportivo for 2013/14 and was part of the side which won promotion back to La Liga at the first time of asking, and the following term his 11 clean sheets in 31 appearances helped the club secure its top flight status.

A year later, Fabri joined Besiktas who had just won the Turkish Super Lig. Established as the number one goalkeeper, he kept 14 clean sheets as Besiktas retained their title in 2016/17.

Last term wasn’t as prosperous for the club, but Fabri still only conceded 30 goals in his 34 league outings as Besiktas finished fourth.

During his time in Turkey Fabri featured in European competition for the first time, making 11 appearances in the Champions League, and six in the Europa League, while he was also voted as the best goalkeeper in the Super Lig for the last two years in a row.

Speaking at Motspur Park upon signing, Fabri said: “I’m delighted to be at an historic club like Fulham, the oldest club in London. I’m very happy to have the opportunity to be in the Premier League with Fulham.

“Everything is very positive for me and I want to take the opportunity to make the most of this goal of being in the Premier League.”

Tony Khan added: “I’m pleased to announce that Fulham FC has completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Fabri from Besiktas. He is a tremendous player that we’ve targeted for some time.

“His scouting profile and his data profile are both strong, and he has exceptional career credentials including Champions League experience, plus he has worked well with our First Team Goalkeeping Coach Jose Sambade Carreira in the past, so we expect his addition will make us a more complete and competitive football club. Come on Fulham!”
