Fulham have signed Werder Bremen midfielder Thanos Petsos on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has made three appearances since joining the German Bundesliga side on a three-year deal last summer.

Greece international Petsos began his career at Bayer Leverkusen, and has had spells at Kaiserslautern, Greuther Furth and Rapid Vienna.

He becomes Fulham's first signing of the January transfer window.

Fulham Football Club statement
The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Thanos Petsos, 25, on loan from Werder Bremen until the end of the season.

A German-born Greece international, Petsos began his career at Bayer Leverkusen, graduating through the academy to make his Bundesliga debut in a 3-0 win over Hannover in April 2010.

He spent the subsequent two seasons on loan at fellow top flight outfit Kaiserslautern, during which time he made more than 40 appearances in all competitions.

A permanent transfer to recently promoted Greuther Furth followed, where he gained more Bundesliga experience before joining Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna in the summer of 2013.

A regular in the side, he helped the team to three consecutive runners-up finishes in the domestic table, while he also played a number of games in the UEFA Europa League.

Following the expiry of his contract last summer, he returned to Germany where he joined Werder Bremen on a three-year deal.

After representing Greece at various age groups, he made his debut for the senior side in 2011 and now has four caps to his name.
