Fulham coach Marco Silva had just one criticism of his side after the goalless draw with Brentford.
Fulham had created the lion’s share of chances but weren’t able to break the deadlock during the derby day clash.
“Tough match, as we expected,” Marco explained. “A derby is always a tight game, normally it’s a game with goals. This afternoon, it was the opposite.
“Looking overall at the game, of course the team that created more chances, even if there were not many, I think was Fulham Football Club.
“When you have the chances that we created, you expect to win the football match and unfortunately for us, the only thing we can regret is the composure on the attacks.
“So many times when we arrived in dangerous areas, we needed to be more clinical, to be more ruthless and to be calm enough to decide better.”
Despite asking for more from his attackers, Marco was happy with his defensive unit after a clean sheet.
“Brentford had one chance first-half from a ball that Willian lost on the counter attack. Apart from that, nothing. Nothing more.
“We kept them really quiet, we controlled a tough attacking line. A good game from our back line and our defensive organisation from all the players, even our set pieces.
“After that, with the chances that we created, we should have scored at least one goal to win the game or more than that. Unfortunately we weren’t clinical enough and it’s a goalless draw.”
The best chance of the match fell to Raul Jimenez, who our boss had introduced off the bench alongside Adama Traore.
“We came here to win the game. All the changes I made, they were offensive chances to try to win the game.
“Both teams were trying to win, it’s always a game that both teams want to win because we know what it represents for our fans. Of course, for sure they saw a team fighting to win the football match and that’s most important to us.”
Next up, the Whites will face a tough test as they welcome title hopefuls Manchester City to SW6.
“We are going to try and win the game as always. It’s clear from me, we are going to try, 100 per cent.
“We are going to play against one of the best teams in the world, if not the best in my opinion. But as always, more so at Craven Cottage, we are a really tough team to play against and we’re going to give a really tough game for City as well.”
