Fulham coach Marco Silva is interested in appointing Casa Pia manager Goncalo Santos as his new assistant coach, but no decision has been taken yet.
Silva is looking for a replacement for Luis Boa Morte, who is set to become the new head coach of Guinea-Bissau.
Santos, 37, is currently taking his first steps into management with Casa Pia, in Portugal. He took over in February on an interim basis with Casa Pia 16th, and in a relegation place, however he has since guided the team to safety. They are now 11th in the table.
Santos previously worked under Marco Silva during the Fulham coach’s first job in management, at Estoril.
“No decisions have been made yet,” said Silva during his pre-match news conference on Friday. “I’m going to add someone to my staff who I think is going to add something for us.
“I understand the connection with Goncalo. He was my player (at Estoril), one of my captains, in my first journey as a manager. He’s doing his first steps, and is already a first team coach. Let’s see what will be the decision. When it is decided, we will announce it.”
Luis Boa Morte linked up with Silva for the first time at Everton and tomorrow’s match with Manchester City will mark his final match in the dugout with Silva and Fulham.
On Boa Morte’s departure, Silva said: “The relationship between him and the fans is not a surprise. He was one of the captains, legends of the club, and there’s huge respect from the fans.
“He’s had a different role in the last three years. Like all my staff, he’s been an important piece in our success.”
