AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has joined Fulham as director of football
in charge of scouting, recruitment of players and the youth academy.
"This is the next step in realising my dream of making Fulham one of
the foremost clubs in the world," said chairman Mohamed Al Fayed on
Tuesday

"Two
years ago I was fortunate enough to attract an international manager with
the proven qualities of Jean Tigana.
"And now we have doubly strengthened our team with a man who is
not only admired as a world-class footballer but also widely recognised
for his knowledge of the game at the highest levels."
Baresi's appointment means Tigana will be able to concentrate on coaching
the first team.
The Italian will start work at Fulham on June 1, giving up the post of
AC Milan vice-president.
Baresi captained Milan for 16 years, winning six Scudettos, three Champions'
Leagues, three Uefa Cups and two Intercontinental Cups, while clocking
up 760 games.
He also led Italy for four years, playing in three World Cups and winning
the competition in 1982 as he amassed 88 caps.
