Fulham captain Tom Cairney has been named Man of the Match from Fulham’s final fixture of the 2024/25 calendar.
Rewarded for his game-changing influence from the bench at Brentford, our Club Captain was in from the off against Manchester City, and played a key role in the Whites wrestling back control of proceedings after falling behind.
His beautiful clipped pass set up Harry Wilson for a great chance which was kept out by a fine Ederson save, but before that TC had a couple of opportunities himself to restore parity.
First he saw a goalbound volley repelled, before sending a curling strike a matter of inches wide.
“I think Raúl blocked the first one,” Cairney said. “And then Andreas, lovely set back, and there was a few bodies to get past and I thought it was going to nestle in the far corner, but it whistled just past the post. That would have been a nice little ending to the season.”
More than half (52.5%) of fans voted for the skipper as their MOTM, with Kenny Tete (9.8%), Wilson (9.4%) and Jorge Cuenca (8.6%) some way behind the midfielder.
