Fulham coach Marco Silva’s side brushed past Sheffield United at the Cottage with three goals for three points.
After a goalless first-half, Bobby De Cordova-Reid opened the scoring and – after an own goal briefly brought the scores level – strikes Tom Cairney and Willian made it an enjoyable afternoon.
“Job done and well done in my opinion,” Marco said. “We deserved three points, it was an important win for us and in some moments, very well played from ourselves.
“We analysed them (Sheffield United) of course, and in some games they play away from home, they have been tough to beat.
“We created a very good number of chances first-half. Unfortunately, again, we didn’t score but the players, they believed, they kept the plan and after we scored in the second-half, they deserved the three points.”
The first-half was marred by a serious injury to Blades captain Chris Basham, whose medical attention led to 14 minutes of additional time.
“Let’s talk first about Chris Basham. A sad moment that he had in that situation. Myself and we as a football club, we wish him all the best and a fast recovering from the bad injury that he had.
“Of course, he’s going to have the support from the most important people to him: that’s family, friends and, of course, his football club.”
Antonee Robinson’s 68th-minute OG was preceded by an injury to Issa Diop moments earlier, which forced the centre-back to limp off.
“He heard a crack in his foot. They’re assessing him. Let’s see what’s going to be in the report. It doesn’t look good but we have to wait.
“We have to learn from that situation when Issa went down in that moment. We have to be much more ruthless in that type of situation. It was an unlucky moment from ourselves, but we should have done much better.
“But the reaction was good and congratulations to our players. They deserve the three points.”
A fine day’s work was capped off in the 92nd minute by Willian’s goal, which kickstarted his personal tally for the season.
“He’s a class player and you know the incredible quality he’s got. I already know what he’s capable of doing.
“It was probably one of his best games of the season so far and I’m really pleased for him. With the quality he has, we have to keep getting the best from him.”
