Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is ready to offer £2m for Tottenham bit-part player Teemi Tainio.

The Finland international has made 14 starts for Spurs this season but only one since Juande Ramos took over in October.

He still has 18 months left on his White Hart Lane contract but has been told he has no future at the club, reports the Daily Star.

Tainio was reportedly offered as a makeweight for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing but does not want to leave his Essex home.

Hodgson is a big admirer of the 28-year-old with whom he worked as manager of the Finnish national side.
