Fulham attacker Anthony Knockaert has been announced as the Terriers’ third signing of the January transfer window, with the Fulham attacker coming in on loan from Premier League side Fulham.

Huddersfield Town had been keen to bolster their ability to create and score goals this month, especially after December’s news that Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin is set for an extended spell on the sidelines following ankle surgery.

Left-footed Knockaert has primarily played off the right wing in his career but also has plenty of experience playing on the left or in a more central attacking midfield role. He will wear the number 50 shirt for Town.

The 31-year-old will already be a familiar face to many Town fans having turned out against them for Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham and Nottingham Forest over the past 11 years, registering five goals and four assists in ten appearances against his new club.

Knockaert was a star player for Brighton’s promotion-winning side in 2016/17, scoring 15 goals in 45 league appearances that campaign, but has found minutes hard to come by at Craven Cottage since turning a successful loan move into a permanent transfer for a reported £15m in 2020.

The Frenchman was sent on loan to Forest for the 2020/21 season, and has spent the first half of this campaign on loan with Greek Super League side Volos, for whom he has scored one in nine appearances, just four of which were starts.

Fulham FC statement:
Fulham Football Club can confirm that Anthony Knockaert has joined Huddersfield Town on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

The French midfielder has made nine appearances for Greece Super League side, Volos FC, but now seeks a new challenge in the EFL Championship with The Terriers.

We wish Anthony all the best for the rest of the campaign.
