  • CHARLTON ATHLETIC play the first match under their third manager of the season, as the south London club strives to avoid the costliest ever relegation from English top flight football. Alan Pardew selects his first team, in the hope of improving on Les Reed's 41-day record at the Valley, of eight matches in League and Cup, one win, one draw and six defeats, picking up just four of 21 Premiership points available.
  • The south London side have lost more matches than any of club in the top division - 13, including the last three. They have leaked more goals (33), and 10 have those have been conceded in the last three outings, away to Spurs and home to Liverpool and Middlesbrough. They are eight points short of safety.

  • FULHAM are playing their second successive London derby, having only managed a goalless draw with West Ham at Craven Cottage on Saturday. They've won two, drawn two and lost one of their five London Premiership derbies so far this season, while Charlton have lost all five of theirs.
  • Chris Coleman's side have won one of their last four League games, and are without a victory in seven Premiership matches away from home. They cross from west to south London, eager to halt a run of three successive defeats on the road, at Manchester City, Blackburn and Liverpool.
  • The Cottagers won the reverse fixture in October and another three points here would give them a second Premier League 'double' over Charlton, and first since 2002-03.
  • The Addicks are looking to beat Fulham for the first time in five Premiership meetings, since a 2-1 home win on 20 December 2004 when Jerome Thomas and Talal El Karkouri got on the scoresheet. They were held to a 1-1 draw in this corresponding fixture last season, when Fulham denied Alan Curbishley's side the chance to go back to second in the table. Soon after, Charlton started the long decent from such dizzy heights.
  • DARREN BENT is Charlton's top scorer with eight. He has netted six in the Premiership, four more than any other club mate.
  • MARCUS BENT is one shy of 100 club career goals.
  • DARREN BENT and Talal EL-KARKOURI have figured in every minute of the Addicks' Premiership games this term.
