Steve Sidwell leads the list of Fulham departures as the Craven Cottage have released nine players in a massive summer clear-out.

The Whites were relegated from the Premier League earlier this month to bring to an end their 13-year stay in the top-flight.

They must now prepare for life in the Championship and getting some of the club's high earners off the wage bill was always going to be a top priority.

Sidwell, who scored 17 times in 113 Whites games, is perhaps the most notable name to head out the door.

Known for his energetic midfielder displays, the former Chelsea, Aston Villa and Reading man was the club's top goalscorer last term.

Another ex-Chelsea player, Damien Duff, has also gone. He was one of the few remaining survivors from the side that reached the Europa League final under Roy Hodgson.

Veteran midfielders Giorgos Karagounis and Mahamadou Diarra are also on the released list, along with Derek Boateng.

John Arne Riise's final appearance for Fulham at Stoke City was his 100th for the club and he won't be adding to that number.

Matthew Briggs, the Premier League's youngest ever player, following his appearance against Middlesbrough at the end of the 2006/07 season, has also departed.

John Heitinga, who signed from Everton in January, will not be playing on for the Whites next season. Neither will goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

Fulham youngsters Charles Banya, Alex Brister, Dino Islamovic, Ronny Minkwitz, Max Oberschmidt and Josh Pritchard will also be playing elsewhere next season.
