Everton moved four points behind fourth placed after a comprehensive victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers dominated the first half and had a couple of chances to take the lead through Kieran Richardson and Moussa Dembele but Toffees keeper thwarted them.

It took the Toffees until the 50th minute to break the deadlock.

Fulham keeper David Stockdale put through his own net after a deflected shot from Steven Naismith cannoned in off the unfortunate Cottagers keeper.

Everton went on to dominate the half and created plenty of chances but failed to convert any and they were soon punished for it.

Fulham levelled the scores through Ashkan Dejagh after the Iranian international went on a weaving run and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

The Cottagers had chances to equalise but Everton held out and made Fulham pay for not taking them when substitute Kevin Mirallas fired Roberto Martinez's side back into the lead after a swift counterattack.

The Blues made sure of victory when Steven Naismith poked home after getting on the end of a Leighton Baines cross.
