Ferguson looking forward to Fulham

last updated Wednesday 20th December 2000, 5:29 PM
Sir Alex Ferguson is straining at the leash to get back into FA Cup action after missing out on the competition last year. United's participation in the Club World Championship saw them miss the Axa-sponsored event last season, but after the draw which pitted him against Fulham and Jean Tigana, the manager can't wait for the New Year tie to come around. "We are going to enjoy it and, hopefully, have a good run. It is a special cup. It is the most prestigious and exciting cup in the world," he told MUTV. Fabien Barthez and Mikael Silvestre will make their FA Cup bows against Fulham on 7 January, and will come up against their countryman Tigana - one of the fabled "Golden Square" midfield of the 1980's, along with Platini, Six and Giresse.
