Wigan Athletic full-back Antonee Robinson is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to Fulham, Football Insider understands.
The 23-year-old has been linked with an exit from the Latics for some time, and has essentially seen his departure sealed by the club’s administration and subsequent relegation to League One.
A Fulham source has told Football Insider that the player is currently in London as he looks to put the finishing touches to his transfer to Craven Cottage.
The series of events surrounding Wigan’s drop down to the third tier triggered a clause in Robinson’s contract that means he is available for a cut-price fee this summer.
Sky reported last week that Sheffield United had already had a bid of around £2 million accepted for the USA international, but Everton and Fulham were both in the process of making late bids to sign him.
And it would appear that Scott Parker’s men have beaten off their Premier League rivals to secure his services, with The Sun suggesting that he is being offered a wage of around £50,000-a-week.
Robinson had previously been set to join AC Milan in a deal worth up to £10 million in January, but the move fell through at the eleventh hour after an underlying health condition was found.
The left-back made 38 Championship appearances for the Latics last season, with his final outing coming against Fulham in a 1-1 draw.
Robinson joined Everton as an 11-year-old but never made a senior appearance for the Toffees, and left Goodison Park on a permanent basis last summer.
