David Elm has signed a new two-year deal to keep him at Craven Cottage until 2012.

The Swedish striker has made just four starts for Fulham since arriving from Kalmar FF last summer.

He made his debut in the Carling Cup defeat at Manchester City in September, but had to wait five months for his first goal for his new club when he scored against Burnley in February - his solitary strike for the Whites.

But boss Roy Hodgson has seen enough of the 27-year-old to extend his stay in SW6.

"They've taken up the option to extend it for two more years," said Elm. "It's fantastic.

"This year has been an opportunity for me to get use to English football and the tempo. Now I want to compete more seriously for a place in the first team next season, that's my aim.

"It will be tough. We've got a lot of great players but you have to try."
