Referee David Coote started refereeing as a sixteen year-old. He refereed in the Notts Alliance League, the Northern Counties East Football League, the Northern Premier League and the Conference North before being promoted to the Football League.

A talented cricketer David played cricket for Notts at various youth age groups, before committing to his refereeing career.

He was promoted to the list of Football League referees in 2010 and to the Select Group 2 of Football Referees, employed on a full time basis, in the summer of 2016. In the summer of 2018 Mr Coote was promoted to the Select Group 1 of Premier League referees.

The last time Mr Coote bossed a Fulham game was in March 2023 when we lost at home to Arsenal. Mr Coote yellow carded yellow carded one player who was from the Arsenal squad.

Prior to the Arsenal game, in January 2023, Mr Cootes refed Fulham when Fulham beat chelsea 2-1 at The Cottage. Mr Coote yellow carded four Fulham players, three Chelsea players and followed up with a red card for Chelsea's Felix. Willian and Carlos Vinicius scored Fulham's goals.

His previous Fulham's match was in May 2021 when we were beaten 2-0 at home by Burnley. It was the third Fulham home defeat of the season overseen by Mr Coote.

Earlier in the season in March 2021 Mr Coote was also the Ref when we suffered a 2-1 home defeat by Arsenal, our 10th of the season with only Sheffield United doing worse. Mario Lemina was booked in the 51st minute for a foul and then Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a foul in the 92nd minute, two Arsenal players were also booked. Joachim Andersen scored Fulham's goal.

Mr Coote also refed Fulham earlier in March when we were robbed of a point against Tottenham Hotspur going down 0-1 in the end. Mr Coote booked Ademola Lookman and Harrison Reed both for fouls and Bale also for a foul. Of course the game will be remembered for Fulham's disallowed goal and the change in the rulrs AFTER the game to avoid other clubs suffering the same injustice as Fulham.

Mr Coote had not bossed a Fulham game since March 2020 when we drew 1-1 away at Bristol City . Mr Coote booked two players from each team, Harry Arter in the 41st minute for dissent, after he had a pop at the assistant referee, and Denis Odoi in the 48th minute also for dissent, after reacting angrily to David Coote awarding a free-kick against him.

In the following season in April 2019 Mr Coote bossed Fulham when we won 1-0 away at Bournemouth in the Premier League. Ref Coote booked four players, three from Fulham, Calum Chambers (59,f), Aleksandar Mitrovic (75,f), Sergio Rico (90+1,tw).

In March 2019 he also refed a Fulham game when we were beaten 3-1 at Leicester City. Mr Coote booked two players both from Fulham, Babel (55,f), Bryan (60,f).

Prior to the Leicester game in March Mr Coote bossed the December 2018 game when we drew at home against Leicester City. Ref Coote kept his cards in his pocket.

Earlier in the season Mr Coote visited Craven Cottage when we beat Burnley 4-2. He booked three players, two from Fulham, Shurrle (59,f), Bettinelli (90+1,tw).

Liverpool were last bossed by Mr Coote in February 2023 when they lost 2-1 away at Brighton.

Last season, 2022/2023 he refed 33 games, dished out 136 yellows, an above average 4.1 yellows per game, and 4 reds.

His busiest game this season so far was Brentford at home Aston Villa when he booked six Brentford players and four Aston Villa player on top of which he sent off a player from each team.
