Referee David Coote started refereeing as a sixteen year-old. He refereed in the Notts Alliance League, the Northern Counties East Football League, the Northern Premier League and the Conference North before being promoted to the Football League.
A talented cricketer David played cricket for Notts at various youth age groups, before committing to his refereeing career.
He was promoted to the list of Football League referees in 2010 and to the Select Group 2 of Football Referees, employed on a full time basis, in the summer of 2016. In the summer of 2018 Mr Coote was promoted to the Select Group 1 of Premier League referees.
The last time Mr Coote bossed a Fulham game was in November 2017 when Fulham were beaten 2-0 away at Wolves. He booked two Wolves players and four Fulham players, Johansen (1,f), Norwood (13,f), Sessegnon (26,f), McDonald (49,f), while blowing up for 16 fouls by Wolves players and just 7 for Fulham players.
However Mr Coote has been reasonably lucky for Fulham over the last couple of seasons as he has been in charge of four wins and one defeat.
Burnley were last bossed by Ref Coote back in August 2015 in a 2-2 home draw with Birmingham.
Last season he reffed 37 games, dished out 151 yellows, an above average 4.1 yellows per game and an average 5 reds.
His busiest game recently was the Reading 1-0 defeat of QPR when he booked three players from each side and followed up with a second yellow for a Reading player.
