Fulham goalkeeper David Button has been impressed by the quality of Fulham's goalkeepers since making the move from Brentford.
The 27-year-old was an ever present for the Bees when fit, he missed four games due to injury and suspension, and saw off the challenges of Richard Lee and Jack Bonham.
At Fulham, though, he has to see of Marcus Bettinelli, Jesse Joronen and Marek Rodak, who have all impressed at times during pre-season.
Button said: “Betts has been great from day one since I came in. He's really welcomed me to the club.
“He's a quality goalkeeper as well. As a squad, you need competition and we've got that here. There's Jesse and Marek behind us who are pushing. I'm sure as a unit we'll push each other on.
“We can see Jesse's quality in training. We're all under Tim Flowers who has got great experience. I loved my time under Roycey (Simon Royce) but each coach has different ideas. They're both good guys who push us hard but be there to support us.”
Button made the most saves in the Championship last season and made a good start towards defending his crown by denying Matt Ritchie against Newcastle.
Despite Tom Heaton of Burnley being regularly picked by Roy Hodgson in his England squads, Button hasn't been mentioned in those circles yet but a Three Lions call up is not on his mind.
He added: “I haven't given it any thought. There are a lot of quality English goalkeepers and you have to be playing in the Premier League.
“Hopefully we can get there with Fulham. I'm focused on playing week in week out here.
“A few people made me aware of (the most saves statistic). It's not a bad stat to have but hopefully that'll continue and I'll help the team as much I can do.”
Button has come in for abuse from Brentford fans after completing his move to Fulham but it is the opinions of Whites fans that matter to him now.
He added: “As long as I have the backing for the Fulham fans, that's what is going to get me through the season.”
