The struggling Eagles, where Coleman spent four years, swoop into Craven Cottage tonight.

The clash also marks Palace boss Alan Smith's return to West London. Jean Tigana's side are hoping to equal the record set by Kevin Keegan's title-winning Newcastle side in 1992.

Coleman, 30, said: "We are up for the game but we know it won't be easy against Palace.

"But we are playing well and are confident of beating anybody.

"No doubt Alan will have the Palace lads well fired up. He knows all about us after his time as Academy Director here and I know a few of their players too.

"The fans are really starting to get behind us here at the Cottage.

"It's a local derby and the atmosphere should be electric."
