Cookie Coleman wants to be Manager

Fulham caretaker manager Chris Coleman has revealed he wants to be seriously considered for the post on a full-time basis.

Coleman has impressed since being handed the reins on a temporary basis after Jean Tigana's early departure from the role last month.

The former Cottagers defender has revived the club's fortunes and steered them away from the relegation zone after accruing ten points in five games at the helm.

When he was initially placed in charge, Coleman stated he did not want the job permanently as the Welshman felt it was too early in his managerial career.

But after enjoying his brief taste of management, he now wants to be considered a serious contender for the vacant hot seat.

Though he has vowed to give Tigana's successor his full backing, he would relish the role himself but concedes he has little prospect of being the chosen one.

"I said at the start that I would like to do it some time in the future, now I have had a taste of it, enjoy it and hopefully it will come sooner rather than later," said Coleman.

"I would like this job because I have enjoyed it so much - but I am not expecting it.

"When you are a player you have that buzz, I have enjoyed coaching, but managing is the closest I have felt to that buzz.

"I am not afraid to make decisions and have made some already that weren't going to please everybody and maybe I have lost a few of my mates in the dressing room.

"But whoever comes in - I know that Toppmoller's name has been mentioned - will have my full backing."
