Fulham manager Chris Coleman believes his side played the better football in their goalless draw at Aston Villa.

After impressing in their 1-0 win over West London rivals Chelsea last Sunday, The Cottagers struggled to convert any of their chances in what proved to be a dire contest with The Villans on Saturday.

Despite the result, Coleman was pleased his side claimed a clean sheet from their trip to the Midlands.

"I think second half, we were the better team," Coleman said. "We played some good football.

"We looked dangerous getting in behind the Villa defence - (Thomas) Sorensen was the busiest of the keepers.

"I thought first half, for about a 10-minute patch, they were on to us. We couldn't get get out of the defensive third.

"But we stayed strong, stayed together, there was a good tempo about our play for most of the 90 minutes.

"To come away from home and keep a clean sheet at this vital stage of the season against a team that are just below us was important.

"It was important that we didn't get beat and I'm glad to say that we didn't."
