Former Fulham manager Chris Coleman has emerged as an early favourite for the Swansea City job.

The Swans are in the hunt for a new manager after Graham Potter left them for Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion after just a season in charge.

Coleman, who is available after leaving Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune five days ago, is the favourite for the vacant position at the Liberty Stadium.

Other early names being linked are Gary Rowett, Chris Hughton, Cameron Toshack and Leon Britton.

The 48-year-old Coleman played for Swansea in his playing days and made over 150 appearances as well as other spells at Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers and Fulham.

The Welshman started his managerial career in 2003 with Fulham and spent four years at Craven Cottage before moving to Spanish side Real Sociedad.

Stints at Coventry City and Greek outfit Larissa followed before he was handed the Wales job in 2012.

He guided his country to the Semi-Finals at Euro 2016 in France.

Coleman took the Sunderland job in November 2017 in what was arguably a poisoned chalice and he couldn’t prevent them from relegation to League One.

China then called for him but he could now be ready to prove people wrong in the Championship with Swansea.

It will be a tough job for whoever takes the Swans’ job with their off field problems and mass exodus of players.
